Tulsa, Oklahoma – On this edition of StudioTulsa, Tom Lindley, the director of Oklahoma Watch, and Jaclyn Cosgrove, an Oklahoma Watch reporter, discuss the origins of this new news-gathering organization, which is a collaborative, non-profit, in-depth and investigative outfit that draws on the state's two largest newspapers, public broadcasting, and higher education to draw attention to important issues across our state. The group's first focus issue, Oklahoma's high rate of incarceration for females, brought new attention to that issue, and it coincides with the route to passage of H.B. 2151, which many tout as an important first step in reducing Oklahoma's very high prison population through the increased use of home detention and community alternatives to incarceration.
