OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — The Oklahoma Department of Public Safety says fewer motorists died on the states roads and highways in March than a year earlier.
Public safety officials say there were 44 fatalities in March compared to 64 during March 2012.
Four motorcyclists and four pedestrians were killed during the month. Four fatality crashes in March were alcohol-related.
McCurtain and Pontotoc counties led the state with four fatalities each, followed by Garvin, Oklahoma and Payne Counties with three each.
A total of 163 people have died on the state's roads and highways through May 5 — down from 218 killed during the same period a year ago.
