Oklahoma City, OK – Health Improvement Plan unveiled
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) A plan for improving the health outcomes of Oklahomans focuses on improving children's health and reducing obesity and tobacco use.
The report, titled the Oklahoma Health Improvement Plan, was released Thursday by Dr. Terry Cline, Oklahoma's health commissioner, and other state health officials.
The plan is the result of a yearlong study by a broad-based group into why Oklahoma ranks near the bottom of all states in important health status indicators.
Dr. Jenny Alexopulos, vice president of the Oklahoma State Board of Health, says the plan identifies four infrastructure areas in the state's health system that need to be improved.
They are financing of public health programs, the effectiveness of the health system, work force development and access to public health services.
