Oklahoma Guard cancels ceremony for returning troops

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — The Oklahoma National Guard says a ceremony scheduled for Sunday for soldiers returning from deployments to Afghanistan and Kuwait has been canceled.

National Guard officials said more than 260 members of the 45th Infantry Brigade Combat Team came back to Oklahoma Saturday morning, including 150 who had been previously scheduled to return on Sunday.

Nearly 2,200 45th Infantry members left for Afghanistan in June and are currently in various stages of the de-mobilization process. An additional 800 Oklahoma Guardsman from the 45th deployed to Kuwait at the same time and are also in the process of returning to Oklahoma.
