File Photo

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt has named Assistant Attorney General Geoffrey Long as his new public policy director.

The 30-year-old Long will help guide the office on public policy issues and assist in crafting the attorney general's legal opinions and public policy projects. He replaces Melissa McLawhorn Houston, who now serves as Pruitt's chief of staff.

Long has been an assistant attorney general in the office's General Counsel Section since 2011. He's helped provide legal counsel to a wide range of agencies including the Oklahoma Real Estate Commission, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, the State Fire Marshal and the LP Gas Administration.

Prior to joining the office, Long was assistant general counsel for the state Land Office and previously held the same position with the Oklahoma Tax Commission.
