Tulsa, Oklahoma – On this edition of StudioTulsa, we chat with Scott Black, the executive director of OK Mozart. The 2009 OK Mozart Festival kicks off this evening (Friday the 12th) up in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, and it will run through June 20th. As Black tells our host Rich Fisher on today's show, OK Mozart is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year; the festival that began in 1985 as a three-day, classical-music-only affair is now a solid week of arts-related activities, from classical and jazz and bluegrass performances to ballet and living history and children's events. Highlights on the bill for this year's festival include, but are by no means limited to: the Silver Celebration Gala, Beethoven's Wig, Houston Ballet II, the Van Cliburn Silver Medalist recital, a duet by jazz legends Chick Corea and Gary Burton, and the Grand Finale concert with Amici New York Orchestra and star soloist Kristin Chenoweth. Also on today's show, our commentator Jeff Martin is wondering whatever happened to the great R&B/soul singer Bill Withers.
