OG&E to Buy Wind Power

By Associated Press

Oklahoma City, OK – OG&E to buy power from 2 planned wind farms

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Oklahoma Gas and Electric has agreed to buy power from two new wind farms that are planned for northwestern Oklahoma.

OG&E on Tuesday announced 20-year power-purchase agreements with the developers of the projects. CPV Keenan submitted a proposal to build a 150-megawatt wind farm in Woodward County while Edison Mission Energy plans to build a 130-megawatt facility in Dewey County near Taloga.

OG&E has 170 megawatts of wind capacity in production today and previously has said it wants to more than triple that capacity by the end of 2010. The two new facilities, the company's existing wind generation and a 100-megawatt facility now under construction near Woodward would combine to give OG&E 550 megawatts of wind.

The construction of the planned wind farms is contingent upon the Oklahoma Corporation Commission approving the deals between OG&E and the developers.
