Tulsa, Oklahoma – On today's edition of StudioTulsa, we speak by phone with Austin-based filmmaker Ben Steinbauer, the writer and director of a fine new documentary called "Winnebago Man." This film, which has drawn rave reviews from critics all over the country, tells the real-life story of one Jack Rebney, an unlikely folk hero whose outrageously funny --- and dizzyingly profane --- outbursts were caught on tape during the making of a Winnebago sales video in the late 1980s. The outtakes reel from Rebney's video circulated on dubbed VHS tapes for years (all over the globe, in fact) before this infamous underground sensation became a full-blown Internet phenomenon on YouTube in 2005. Today, the "Winnebago Man video" has been seen by more than 20 million people worldwide --- it's therefore considered one of the first (and funniest) viral videos. The DVD of "Winnebago Man" will be released in November of this year; the film is now playing at the Circle Cinema in Tulsa.
