No Change in Unemployment Rate

Oklahoma City, OK – Okla. unemployment rate unchanged in October

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Oklahoma's unemployment rate remained at 6.9 percent in October.

The Oklahoma Employment Security Commission reports that 121,510 people were unemployed last month, down from 122,080 in September. There were 122,680 people unemployed in October 2009.

OESC figures show the employment sectors that had increases were manufacturing, which added 900 jobs from September to October; educational and health services, which added 700; and other services, which added 600.

Sectors shedding jobs included trade, transportation and utilities, which lost 1,500 jobs, and financial activities, which lost 1,000.

The national unemployment rate was unchanged at 6.9 percent in October.
