Tune in for the next installment of All This Jazz, which takes flight at 10pm Central on Saturday the 2nd on Public Radio 89.5-1.
We'll offer a terrific show from our archives that includes music by Steve Kuhn, Clifford Jordan, Shirley Horn, Kevin Mahogany, Bud Powell, Louis Armstrong, Bill Evans, and Steve Davis. (And then some.)
It's a program that originally aired in September of last year, when a limited-run, much-ballyhooed production of "Porgy and Bess" was just about to close on Broadway. Therefore, the theme-driven second hour of our proceedings (beginning at 11pm) will feature great jazz renditions of several tunes from George Gershwin's folk-opera masterpiece: "Summertime," "I Loves You, Porgy," "It Ain't Necessarily So," "I've Got Plenty o' Nothin'," and so on.
Join us, friends --- and keep in mind that you can also, as ever, hear a day-after re-broadcast of All This Jazz on Sundays at 7pm on Jazz 89.5-2, which is our mighty fine all-jazz-and-only-jazz HD Radio channel here at Public Radio Tulsa. Cheers.
