On the Next All This Jazz: Beatles Tunes (or, "I Got No Kick Against Modern Jazz")

Tune in for the next edition of All This Jazz --- our weekly survey of modern jazz, both recent and classic --- airing every Saturday night here on Public Radio 89.5-1, from 10pm till midnight. (There's also a re-broadcast of ATJ on Sunday nights at 7pm, on Jazz 89.5-2, which is our all-jazz HD Radio channel.)

Each week, our program has a theme in its second hour. And for our June 1st show --- immediately following (and very much inspired by) the two jaw-droppingly amazing concerts that Sir Paul McCartney offered at Tulsa's BOK Center earlier this week (see Tulsa World review here, FYI) --- our theme will be Jazz Versions of Beatles Tunes.

Thus we'll hear familiar, ear-friendly pieces like "And I Love Her" and "Let It Be" and "Here, There, and Everywhere" --- among several others --- as rendered by such varied jazz greats as Joshua Redman, George Shearing, and Fred Hersch. Please join us.

Scott Gregory started working at Public Radio Tulsa in 2006; he started listening to public radio circa 1980, when he and NPR both marked their tenth birthdays (although only one of them commemorated the occasion with a party at Skate World). Scott became this radio station's Operations Director in the summer of 2023; he also hosts and programs All This Jazz, which airs every Saturday night on Public Radio 89.5-1 from 9pm till midnight.
