Tulsa,OK – Darrell Hall is the new coach of Booker T. Washington High School. Hall, previously the head football coach of the Star Spencer Bobcats in Oklahoma City, led his team to a 4A state title last season.

"He's been very successful at Star Spencer, where he's been the head coach for over a half a decade," said Dr. Stephanie Spring, the district's athletic director. "He won the state championship there this year and he'll bring a competitive attitude and the expectation of winning to BTW. I look forward to great things to come."

BTW, the 2008 5A Oklahoma football champs, named Hall as their new head coach today.

"I am pleased with the selection of Darrell Hall as the new leader of BTW football," said Dr. Keith Ballard, TPS superintendent. "The selection of coach Hall was a united effort of school and community and I appreciate those who served on the search committee. Darrell Hall exemplifies the finest attributes in a head football coach. He brings a winning record and an impeccable record of developing young men into great citizens. TPS is fortunate to have him."

Antwain Jimmerson resigned as Booker T. Washington High School's head football coach on January 25. He was awaiting the district's decision of whether his athletics responsibilities would be restored after an investigation uncovered a number of violations to Oklahoma Secondary School Athletics Association rules. The OSSAA is the organization that governs public high school athletics.

"These kids deserve a fair shot at a strong season," said Spring. "I have every confidence this coach will be just the spark the Hornets need."

BTW has been in Newsweek magazine's top 100 U.S. high schools every year since 2005. This year the U.S. Department of Education named BTW a national Blue Ribbon School for excellence in education. The Hornet basketball team recently won the 5A state championship.
