Norman, OK – OU regents approve Moore as new dean

NORMAN, Okla. (AP) University of Oklahoma regents have approved the appointment of a new dean for OU's College of Atmospheric and Geographic Sciences.

Berrien Moore III will become the college's dean-designate on May 31 and work for about a month with current dean John Snow. Snow is retiring from his work as dean to focus on teaching and research.

Moore will become the dean on July 1 and also will serve as a professor of meteorology and director of the National Weather Center on the OU campus.

Moore most recently worked as the executive director of Climate Central, a think tank focused on providing information about climate change.

He also worked for 20 years for the University of New Hampshire's Institute for the Study of Earth, Oceans and Space.
