New Attractions and Recently Opened Exhibits at the Tulsa Zoo

On this edition of ST, with Spring Break now in effect, we're discussing some new changes and enhancements at that ever-popular Spring Break destination known as the Tulsa Zoo. For openers, the Robert J. LaFortune WildLIFE Trek, formerly known as the North American Living Museum, was unveiled to the public on Saturday the 16th; it's a four-building complex that houses everything from grizzly bears to naked mole rats to albino alligators. Also, there's a new exhibit on display in the zoo's African Plains section that features three highly endangered African Painted Dogs. Also, the Tulsa Zoo announced last week that it will soon begin construction on its first Master Plan project, the Mary K. Chapman Rhinoceros Exhibit, which will be the home for the facility's two white rhinoceroses, Jeannie and Buzbie. Our guest on today's show, to speak about all of the above and more, is Terrie Correll; she's the CEO of Tulsa Zoo Management, Inc. and the executive director of Tulsa Zoo Friends. (Be sure to visit tulsazoo.org for more information.) Also on this installment of StudioTulsa, our commentator Connie Cronley files a personal essay that begins, all but irresistibly, like so: "Can't talk now. Halfway out the door --- on my way to a hookah lounge...."
