Oklahoma National Guard troops, with soldiers from other states, respond to an earthquake and a terrorist chemical attack. It's not real, only a drill to assess emergency preparedness.
Operation Sooner Response takes place at the Port of Catoosa and centers around a simulated magnitude 7.5 earthquake. It's followed with a hypothetical chemical weapon attack by terrorists. Major Greg Farrar is deputy commander with the 63rd civil support team. He says it's a chance for those who would respond after a disaster to work together and identify any problems that need to be corrected.
Major Farr says it's just coincidence that an earthquake event was chosen as the scenario for a drill held just days after the state's largest quake hit. He says the type of disaster was chosen before the real earthquake struck.
