Muskogee Police Shooting Update

By Associated Press

Muskogee, OK – Handling of evidence after police shooting probed

MUSKOGEE, Okla. (AP) The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation is looking into the handling of evidence following a deadly police shooting in Muskogee.

Muskogee County District Attorney Larry Moore says he asked the OSBI to investigate. Moore declined further comment.

Police chief Rex Eskridge told the Muskogee Phoenix that the investigation includes how evidence was handled and police allowing a city attorney to look at a piece of evidence.

Moore on Wednesday ruled that Officer Ginny Bemo acted reasonably when shooting 38-year-old Letha Adams on Oct. 1 at the home of Adams' mother. Moore says the mother called 911 when Adams tried to stab her with a fork.

Moore said Bemo shot Adams after Adams tried to grab another officer's gun.
