Muskogee, OK – Father of man accused in mall shooting arrested

MUSKOGEE, Okla. (AP) Muskogee police have arrested the father of man who is believed to be the gunman in a shooting at Arrowhead Mall that killed a teenager and wounded five others.

District Attorney Larry Moore said Monday that 38-year-old Donald Fowler was charged with tampering with evidence in connection with the April 10 shooting that killed 17-year-old Jerrod Reed.

Police say the gun believed to have been used in the shooting was found Friday in an abandoned house and has been sent to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation for testing.

Fowler's son, 19-year-old Dondray Fowler, is charged with first-degree murder in the shooting.

Moore says murder and assault and battery charges will be dropped against 16-year-old Michael Mayberry, whom witnesses had said was the shooter.
