Undated – Thunderstorms bring rain to parched Oklahoma
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Thunderstorms with rain and small hail are moving across parts of Oklahoma that have been in a drought.
National Weather Service forecaster Daryl Williams in Norman said no flooding has been reported or is expected as a result of the Thursday rainfall. He said the rain will "modestly" help parched areas of the state but does not end the drought.
He said rainfall amounts of just above an inch have been reported in northern Caddo County just southwest of Oklahoma City.
Oklahoma Gas and Electric reported just more than 4,000 power outages in the Oklahoma City metro Thursday morning while Public Service Company of Oklahoma reported 705 outages in Osage County in northeastern Oklahoma.
It was not immediately known if the outages were directly related to the storms.
