Muskogee, OK – Okla. woman fatally shot by police officer

MUSKOGEE, Okla. (AP) Muskogee police say an officer fatally shot a woman and another officer was injured during a domestic disturbance.

Muskogee police spokesman Pedro Zardeneta said a physical altercation occurred between the woman and two officers who were responding to a burglary call at a residence about 10:20 a.m. Friday.

Zardeneta says the 38-year-old woman, later identified as Letha Adams, was shot by Officer Ginny Bemo when Adams tried to take Officer Perry Galvin's gun. Bemo has been placed on routine administrative leave.

He says Galvin was transported to a Muskogee hospital, but his injuries weren't considered to be life-threatening.

Zardeneta says Adams didn't live at the residence, which is believed to be her mother's house.
