Tulsa, Oklahoma – Given our ever-increasing worries over the cost and availability of oil, given the universal efforts to "go green," and given the ongoing concerns about urban sprawl and unwise development, is the U.S. finally ready for a high-speed rail system? On this edition of StudioTulsa, we speak to that very question --- and to several other related questions --- with the urban planner and passionate high-speed rail advocate Andy Kunz. He's a Principal of Sustainable Urban Design and Planning at Group Goetz Architects in Washington, D.C. Mr. Kunz has some interesting ideas about how the development of a high-speed rail system in America might well help us rescue our economy, preserve our planet, and end our addiction to oil. (You can read about Group Goetz Architects at www.gga.com, and you'll find more about Kunz and his ideas at www.treehugger.com/files/2008/11/three-plans-for-transit-stimulus.php.)
