Oklahoma City, OK – Henry vetoes 2 bills involving examiner's office
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Gov. Brad Henry's office says he has vetoed two bills that a district attorney says are at the heart of an investigation involving three legislators.
The announcement of the vetoes from Henry's office Sunday said the measures were fatally flawed and not in the best interest of the state.
District Attorney David Prater said Friday he was investigating whether a deal was made to create a state job at the Office of the chief medical examiner for a senator in exchange for her agreement not to seek re-election.
The bills vetoed Sunday by the governor would create a new position at the medical examiner's office to coordinate a move to new quarters for the agency, and would transfer money to the office, apparently to pay a salary for the new position.
