Legislators to Increase Tempo in Week Ahead

KWGS News File Photo

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Following a so-called "spring break" week of few bills and even fewer votes at the state Capitol, Oklahoma's legislators are set to increase the tempo in the coming week.

Last week was a reset, as bills that cleared one chamber moved to the other. Senator Brian Crain of Tulsa says he and his colleagues took the time to get familiar with this new set of bills. Many also took the opportunity to spend time with family thanks to the week's overlap with public school spring breaks.

Only a handful of bills came up for a vote, because committees must vote them up or down before they go to the full chamber. Two dozen committees are scheduled to jump into that task this week and consider almost 170 proposals.
