Legislative Leaders Address Tulsa Regional Chamber Forum

KWGS News

The State House Speaker and Senate President brief Tulsa business and government leaders on the top issues for the 2014 legislative session. At a Chamber of Commerce forum, Senate President Pro Tem Brian Bingman and House Speaker T.W. Shannon outline their priorities for lawmakers. Shannon says priority one is pension reform. He referred to cities and states undone by huge unfunded liabilities. Education reform, judicial reform, and reworking Insure Oklahoma are also listed. Shannon says he and Bingman agree on 95% of issues on the agenda. During his turn at the podium at the Chamber forum, Senate President Pro Tem Brian Bingman says revenue isn’t meeting expectations and that’s of some concern. Despite the likelihood of another tight budget, Bingman pledges to try and pump more resources into education.
