Oklahoma City, OK – Gov sets date for state Senate election

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) A special election for a state Senate seat in Edmond and northwest Oklahoma City will be held early next year.

Gov. Brad Henry on Tuesday set a Jan. 11 date for the primary election to replace current Sen. Todd Lamb.

The special general election will be Feb. 8.

Lamb announced this week he will resign the seat on Jan. 10 when he is sworn in as the state's next lieutenant governor.

The three-day filing period will be held December 13-15.

Republicans Carol Hefner, Steven Dobbs, Greg Treat and Kenny Goza have announced plans to run for the seat. No Democrats have announced as candidates.
