Hobart, OK – Jordan's king visits small Oklahoma town

HOBART, Okla. (AP) The King of Jordan has paid a visit to a small town in southwestern Oklahoma.

King Abdullah II was in Hobart Wednesday afternoon at the invitation of retired Gen. Tommy Franks, who was holding a debate program for high school students.

KTJS radio reports that only one newspaper reporter was allowed to attend the event, and organizers wouldn't allow the reporter to ask questions or take photos of the event.

Franks' Leadership Institute and Museum didn't return a message seeking comment about the event. The website listed the king as a past guest.

KTJS reports that Franks became acquainted with the king when Franks was commander of the U.S. Central Command. Franks retired in 2003.

He has since moved to Hobart and is building the institute.
