Tulsa, Oklahoma – On our show today, we hear from David O. Stewart, the longtime Washington, D.C.-based lawyer and author. Stewart's new book is "Impeached: The Trial of President Andrew Johnson and the Fight for Lincoln's Legacy" (Simon and Schuster). The motives and maneuvers behind the first-ever impeachment trial of a U.S. President, as Stewart tells our host Rich Fisher, are actually far different from --- and far more corrupt and bribe-related than --- how this event is commonly thought of in our popular imagination. And as one reviewer in The Washington Post has noted: "Stewart's 'Impeached' is the fullest recounting we have of the high politics of that immediate post-Civil War period. . . . [His] graceful style and storytelling ability make for a good read." Also on our show today, pop culture commentator Ian Shoales holds forth on such far-flung topics as the color red, the ways in which today's teachers grade their students, and disposable shaving razors.
