Oklahoma City, OK – Henry seeks federal disaster declaration

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Gov. Brad Henry is seeking a federal disaster declaration for all 77 Oklahoma counties due to the severe winter storm.

Henry says many areas of the state have been hit hard by the winter storm and federal aid will play a key role in the recovery process.

If approved, state and local governments will receive reimbursement for their storm-related expenses. Eligible expenses include worker overtime and costs associated with operating shelters and clearing snow- and ice-covered roads.

The governor says that once damage assessment teams conduct surveys, additional federal assistance may be requested to aid local and state governments.

Oklahoma remains under a statewide declaration of emergency issued by the governor Wednesday.
