Help for Man Who Held Parent's Hostage

By KWGS News

Sand Springs, OK – He could have easily become an Oklahoma statistic! A Sand Springs man off his medication and armed with a nine-millimeter gun holds his parents hostage .

He eventually released his parents this morning and surrendered to the Sand Springs Police Department's Special Operations Team. Sand Springs Assistant Police Chief Mike Carter doubts there will be charges.

Part of Oklahoma's corrections crisis is caused by an influx of mentally disturbed people caught up in crime. With few resources available, many wind-up in prison rather than getting professional help.
