Help with Cooling Bills

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) The state Department of Human Services is now taking applications from low-income households to help pay the cost of summer cooling bills.

DHS has about $12 million federal dollars for the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program.

Applications are being accepted at DHS Human Service Centers.

The benefits are $150 for a one-person household and $230 for households of two or more. One payment per household is allowed annually for the summer cooling assistance.

Income limits range from $1,127 per month for one-person households to $4,009 per month for homes with eight or more people.

Those applying should have their latest electric bill and verification of income information.
