Tushka, OK – Okla. governor plans tour of tornado-ravaged area

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Gov. Mary Fallin is heading to a small southeast Oklahoma town where a tornado left two dead and destroyed homes, businesses and the local school.

A Fallin spokesman says she'll travel to Tushka (TUHS'-kuh) on Friday afternoon after she makes a scheduled visit to Fort Sill. Fallin will fly in an Oklahoma National Guard Blackhawk helicopter to tour the damage and meet with local residents.

The town of about 350 residents is located about 120 miles southeast of Oklahoma City.

During the Republican governor's first four months in office, Oklahoma has been hit with two powerful blizzards that paralyzed much of the state for days and wildfires that have burned thousands of acres and destroyed several homes and now the tornado.
