OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — The cost for evading tolls on Oklahoma roads is going down.
Gov. Mary Fallin signed a bill on Tuesday that reduces the fine for second and subsequent toll violations to a flat $25 fee. Under current law, the penalty is $25 for the first violation, $50 for a second violation and $75 for a third violation.
A spokesman for the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority says the agency asked for the fine reduction, saying it would foster a more positive customer experience, especially while trying to settle outstanding violations. OTA officials say they hope the change also will encourage more drivers to use the PikePass system.
The bill was one of 13 Fallin signed into law on Tuesday.
