Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin addressed attendees at the Tulsa Regional Chamber’s update on the State of the State, presented by Spirit AeroSystems and Tulsa Community College, today at the Cox Business Center in downtown Tulsa.
Fallin’s comments centered on continued job growth, the successes of the 2013 legislative session, and issues currently facing the state of Oklahoma such as health care and education. Fallin also complimented the OneVoice initiative, saying the unified effort of the entire region to communicate with legislators and elected officials is both helpful and meaningful.
“Your one voice does make a difference in Oklahoma and in the state’s legislation,” Fallin said. “You continue to work to create the best business environment through your OneVoice process, which has really helped us at the Capitol.”
Fallin applauded the legislature for their approval of additional funding for the OSU Medical Center, education and the closing fund.
When asked about current issues facing Oklahoma’s health care system following as the Affordable Care Act continues to be implemented,
Fallin informed the crowd she is working with the Department of Health and Human Services in an effort to secure a one-year extension for Insure Oklahoma in its current form.
