Lawton, OK – Oklahoma soldier killed in Afghanistan

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) The Department of Defense says a Lawton soldier has been killed during combat in Afghanistan.

Officials announced yesterday that Sgt. Travis M. Tompkins died on Wednesday, a day after he was injured when his unit was attacked with a rocket-propelled grenade in Logar province.

The 31-year-old Tompkins was assigned to the Brigade Special Troops Battalion, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division based in Fort Polk, La.
