OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — The Oklahoma Department of Human Services says it will have funding to help low income residents pay summer cooling bills.
DHS says it will be taking applications starting July 9 for assistance through the federal Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program. The agency says it will have about $22 million for this year's program.
Eligibility is based on the size and the monthly income of the household. The one-time payments are $200 for a one-person household and $250 for a home with two or more people.
A one-person household with a monthly income of $998 or less is eligible while a household of eight is eligible if the income is $3449 or less.
Those applying should have their latest electric bill and verification of income.
