Tulsa, Oklahoma – On our program today, we're talking about issues of inequality and ineffectiveness within America's public schools with Deborah Gist, the Commissioner of Elementary and Secondary Education for the State of Rhode Island. Commissioner Gist (who grew up in Tulsa, and who was named by Time Magazine as one of its "100 Most Influential Persons for 2010") along with Janet Barresi, Oklahoma's new State Superintendent of Public Instruction, will participate in a community-wide conversation about education reform --- both locally and nationally --- at noon on Saturday the 26th at the Circle Cinema (in Tulsa; near the corner of Lewis and Admiral). This discussion will be preceded by a free-to-the-public screening of the recent and widely celebrated education-focused documentary film, "Waiting for Superman" (Rated PG; 102 minutes).
