Four Killed in Crash

By Associated Press

Purcell, OK – 4 killed in accident in south-central Oklahoma

PURCELL, Okla. (AP) Authorities say four people were killed in a single-vehicle accident in McClain County.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said the accident happened just after 1:30 a.m. Saturday on U.S. 77 about three miles south of Purcell.

Troopers say a pickup truck driven by Jordan Powell was traveling south on the highway when it drifted into the northbound lanes. The patrol says Powell manuevered the vehicle to avoid hitting an oncoming car but the truck ran off the road and into a culvert.

The truck struck an embankment and overturned several times, ejecting Powell, Trulie Beason, Gregory Haegele, Cody Simmons, Rebecca Sisca and an unidentified passenger.

Powell and Sisca survived and were listed in serious condition at an Oklahoma City hospital.

The patrol says Powell was the only one wearing a seat belt.
