Flooding Rains

Undated – Beneficial rain falls across Oklahoma

McALESTER, Okla. (AP) Heavy rain has led to flooding problems in eastern Oklahoma.

LeFlore County Emergency Management Director Michael Davidson says emergency officials helped rescue motorists when two vehicles were swept off a bridge into a creek Sunday afternoon. Davidson says no one was hurt.

He also said some houses had been flooded, but no evacuations had been ordered. Davidson says all major streets and creeks in the area were flooded.

Besides the heavy rain, tornado warnings were issued for storms in Haskell, Pittsburg and Sequoyah counties this weekend. There was no confirmation that anything touched down.

Pittsburg County Emergency Management Director Trent Myers says spotters saw four funnel clouds, but they never reached the ground. Myers says the damage report was of barn that was found lying on the side of a road.
