Flood Damage Assessed

By Associated Press

Oklahoma City – OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) State and federal officials have begun touring homes that were damaged by flooding in south Oklahoma City last week.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency, the Small Business Administration and the Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management visited about two-dozen homes Wednesday to find out what kind of insurance homeowners and business owners have and the overall damage to their property.

FEMA spokesman H.R. Holman says inspectors aren't compiling dollar figures on what repairs will cost, but are assessing the cumulative level of damage. That will be forwarded to the governor's office, which will then send a request to the White House.

Oklahoma residents impacted by flooding that began June 13 were denied assistance by the White House earlier this month.
