Flags Posted to Remember Oklahoma Child Abuse Victims

State House

A somber ceremony is held at the Oklahoma State Capitol commemorating Child Abuse Awareness Month. Ardmore Representative Pat Ownby says a flag ceremony on the south lawn of the capitol brought attention to the problem.

Bagpipers played as 41-Oklahoma flags were posted on the capitol grounds. Ownby says there was one Oklahoma flag for each of the 41 children who died in the last year in the state from child abuse. Hundreds of American Flags were also posted on the capitol grounds.
