Tulsa Fire Chief Allen LaCroix explains what a 4.4% budget cut would mean to his department.

Tulsa, OK – Tulsa Fire Chief Allen LaCroix details his budget cutting plan for the Tulsa Fire Department. Under the 4.4 percent reduction we would have to lay-off 116 Tulsa Fire Fighters and close some companies. He says such a cut would greatly lengthen the Fire Department's response time.

He presented the proposal to the mayor yesterday. The mayor has said if the public safety and other city unions would agree to wage cuts, then the layoffs could be avoided. Chief LaCroix's proposal would be a reality if those wage concessions do not take place.
