Oklahoma City, OK – Okla. traffic fatalities declined in October
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) The Oklahoma Department of Public Safety says traffic fatalities for the month of October were down from the same month in 2009.
DPS figures released Wednesday showed there were 47 fatal accidents, nine fewer than in October 2009.
The statistics showed that 12 of the fatality crashes were alcohol-related, in the opinion of the investigating state, county or municipal officer. Thirty-nine fatality victims were Oklahoma residents and eight were nonresidents.
Seven of the fatality victims were 20 years old or younger.
Osage County led the state with four fatalities, followed by Creek, Kay and Oklahoma counties, which had three fatal accidents each.
So far, 568 people have died on Oklahoma roads this year, down from 680 during the same period last year.
