Muskogee, OK – Okla. state rep. to seek Boren's US House seat

MUSKOGEE, Okla. (AP) A Republican state representative from Muskogee says he'll run for the 2nd Congressional District seat in eastern Oklahoma being vacated by Democratic U.S. Rep. Dan Boren.

George Faught announced his plans Thursday.

Faught is a longtime owner and operator of a carpet cleaning business in Muskogee. He's serving his third term in the Oklahoma Legislature after becoming the first Republican elected to the District 14 seat that includes eastern Muskogee and the towns of Braggs and Fort Gibson.

Boren is the only Democrat in Oklahoma's congressional delegation. He announced last month that he would not seek a fifth term in Congress.

The heavily Democratic 2nd District covers 26 counties in eastern Oklahoma and stretches south from the Kansas state line to the Red River.
