Muskogee, OK – Fatal fire not considered to be suspicious
MUSKOGEE, Okla. (AP) Fire officials say a blaze that claimed the life of a 67-year-old Muskogee woman doesn't appear to be suspicious.
Assistant Fire Marshal James Ledbetter says the cause of the Wednesday night fire most likely will wind up being undetermined.
Muskogee Police Lt. Bobby Lee said investigators didn't find anything suspicious about the fire, but did see several oxygen bottles in Carol West's home.
Ledbetter says the fire started in West's bedroom. He says she was semi-ambulatory and spent most of her time in bed.
Her 44-year-old daughter, Christine West, who was treated for smoke inhalation, said her mother was a smoker.
Ledbetter said he was waiting on a state medical examiner's report before issuing his final report.
