By Associated Press

Oklahoma City, OK – Woman dies as car, passenger train collide in OKC

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Authorities say a woman is dead after the car she was riding in was struck by an Amtrak passenger train as the car attempted to cross tracks in southeast Oklahoma City.

Officers said the woman, not yet named by police, died at the scene of the crash about 9:25 p.m. Friday. Police Lt. Daniel Stewart said the driver was taken to a local hospital in critical condition.

Fire Department Maj. Robert Mitchell said none of the 48 passengers on the train was injured.

Stewart said witnesses told police that the railroad crossing bars were down and that the driver of the car drove around them.
