Hobart, Okla. – HOBART, Okla. (AP) Kiowa County authorities have discovered and destroyed thousands of marijuana plants possibly worth up to $3.5 million.
Sheriff Russ Tate says a tip officials received on Sunday led them to 7,700 plants in several patches between Mountain View and Carnegie in southwestern Oklahoma. Tate declined to reveal the exact location.
No arrests have been made.
Tate says his office got a call about marijuana growing on a farmer's land that is under jurisdiction of the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
He says several law enforcement agencies, including the BIA, the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs and county drug task forces, worked quickly to pull up the plants.
Tate says the plants were found near an area where 1,750 plants were found last year.
