Deal Near on Pension Consolidation Plan

State of Oklahoma-File Photo

Gov. Mary Fallin and Oklahoma Treasurer Ken Miller are working behind the scenes to consolidate the administrations of the state's largest pension systems, irritating some legislators from both sides of the aisle who want to know why the proposal is being drafted in secret.

While Fallin and Miller both have publicly discussed the idea, the details of the proposal haven't been unveiled despite the fact that legislators go home at the end of May.

The plan already faces opposition from some of the special interest groups that represent workers, particularly the firefighters.

Miller says he and the governor's office have been working with various union groups all session long on the proposal, including the groups representing the firefighters.
