Pawhuska, OK – Newly elected district attorney in Okla. deployed
PAWHUSKA, Okla. (AP) An Oklahoma district attorney is among those being deployed to Afghanistan where he will lead a combat team as a colonel in the Oklahoma National Guard.
District Attorney Rex Duncan for Osage and Pawnee counties told the Tulsa World that he was told in December he was on a list for possible deployment. Duncan was elected in November and took office in January.
Duncan is one of more 3,200 being mobilized as part of the largest call-up in the history of the 45th Infantry Brigade.
The deployment is the second for Duncan. He served 16 months in 2002-03 as a Green Beret.
Duncan says first assistant District Attorney Mike Fisher will be in charge of his office while he's away.
