Tulsa, OK – TU student identified as victim of fatal shooting

TULSA, Okla. (AP) University of Tulsa officials say a 24-year-old student was the victim of an attempted carjacking and fatal shooting.

TU President Steadman Upham says Sufeng He was a "bright and promising" electrical engineering master's degree student from China.

Tulsa police say the incident began Tuesday after the suspect kidnapped a victim at gunpoint and drove to a grocery store. Officer Leland Ashley says when the suspect left the store, the suspect tried to hijack a small car and fired shots, killing the car's driver.

Police say the suspect then carjacked a pickup truck from a family in the parking lot and drove away.

The suspect fired more shots at police before wrecking the pickup. Police returned fire, but don't know if those shots killed the suspector if he killed himself.
