TULSA, Okla. (AP) — A federal appeals court has upheld the conviction of a former Tulsa police officer who's serving a 10-year prison sentence for stealing money during a purported drug bust.

Former Cpl. Harold Wells had claimed that authorities never obtained a warrant to secretly videotape an FBI sting in 2009 that appeared to show him stealing money during what he thought was a motel drug bust.

The 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals upheld Wells' conviction Friday. The court's opinion says there was sufficient evidence that Wells was engaging in a criminal conspiracy — not legitimate police work.

Wells was sentenced in 2011. The 2-year corruption probe resulted in 11 officers being charged or named as unindicted co-conspirators.

The Tulsa World reports Wells is serving his sentence in a Minnesota prison.
