County Drug Program Reaches a Milestone

KWGS News

A Tulsa County program to recycle unused prescription drugs reaches a milestone. Director of Social Services, Linda Johnston, says this year, for the first time in the history of the recycling program, two million dollars worth of drugs have been recycled. The program collects unused medications from nursing homes and assisted living facilities, then dispenses them to clients from the County pharmacy. Johnston says it provides needed medicine for those who otherwise might not be able to afford it.

In total, more than 11-million dollars worth of unused prescriptions have been recycled through the program since its’ inception.
